810 South Cincinnati Tulsa, OK
|
In downtown Tulsa, the building at 810 South Cincinnati was originally constructed as an additional service garage for the Chick Norton Buick Dealership. The original structure was built in the early 1940's of load-bearing brick and hollow clay til walls, steel bow trusses and wood deck roof.
WAI and KMO conceived this project as mixed use. The Interiors were gutted and stripped back to their original condition. The steel bow trusses and wood decking have been left exposed. New energy efficient skylights and storefront systems have been installed opening up the interior space to the downtown Tulsa skyline.
Exterior design elements play up the curved wood roof, open span interior and original building materials. The warm green and wheat color materials soften the exterior facade. Colors were chosen to complement and unify the two buildings - the Car Sales Showroom and KMO Development Group's Corporate Headquarters next door.
